Our Favorite Tanzanian Safari list
People from all over the world travel to Tanzania, and many come for the safari experience, hoping to spot the Big Five, or to relax on the gorgeous beaches of Zanzibar. Encountering animals in the wild during a Tanzanian Safari is a whole different experience. Seeing them in their natural habitat is something else entirely, as opposed to seeing the same animals in the zoo.
If you have never heard of the Big Five, here is what you must know: These are the most popular animals of the African Safari. They include – the leopard, the lion, the buffalo, the elephant and the rhino.
Here are a few of our favorite safaris, to help you choose the right one for you when you plan your trip to Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater Tanzanian Safari:
Without a doubt, Ngorongoro Crater is one of the must-see wonders of Tanzania. The over million-year old Crater is home to loads of animals, and you can get quite up-close with them. Best part is, you get to camp at the edge of the crater. You get to soak in all the sights and sounds of this wonderful place.
You may also hear the lions and hyenas from a distance as you sleep at night. You will be truly in the ‘wild’.
Serengeti National Park Tanzanian Safari:
This park too, is a must-see and must-do during a Tanzanian Safari. Serengeti is a world-famous name, a park that has attracted thousands of people from all over the world because of its magical savannah landscapes and abundance of wildlife. Best known for the great migration, this park is home to loads of wildebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras and much more.
Tarangire National Park Tanzanian Safari:
This small but exciting park is where you will see plenty of elephants. With ample of trees, this park has a very unique feel. Here too, you may be lucky enough to spot lions, lots of giraffes and many more animals. Tarangire is ideal for a day trip since the whole park can be covered in short time and it is not too far from Arusha and Moshi town.
Combine your safaris:
We do recommend that you combine your safaris. This way, you get to see more as compared to visiting just one National Park. Grab an opportunity to see Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire all in one! There are plenty of safari packages available, depending on your time allowance and budget.
You can also get a tailor-made safari, and you can as well combine a safari together with a beach getaway!
A safari combination sounds great. How many days would you recommend for enjoying it in a relaxed way?
Hi Fehima. Five to seven days seems about right – but you can extend it, depending largely on your preferences.
