4 reasons to spend Christmas on Kilimanjaro

If you are still wondering what to do over the festive season, why not spend your Christmas on Mount Kilimanjaro? Mountain climbing can be an exhilarating experience, and is a perfect adventure for you and your best friend; or even you and your spouse.

Kilimanjaro, especially, is one of a kind. It is the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world! Also known as the Roof of Africa, the mountain is quite ‘walkable’, in that, it is not particularly challenging to reach the summit. Essentially, most people can do it if they are fit and healthy.

Here are a few factors that make climbing Mount Kilimanjaro the ideal vacation plan:

It is exciting!

As strange as it may sound, climbing Kilimanjaro is actually fun! The last part to Uhuru Peak may be hard but there is so much enjoyment as you get closer to the summit. The scenery will blow you away. The air is clear and crisp. Every step you take is a breath of fresh air. You can walk slowly to avoid exhaustion and acclimatize to the altitude changes.

You will encounter gorgeous landscapes and vegetation that change with every zone. When the night falls and our cook prepare for you a delicious meal, you can spend time star gazing under the lovely African skies.

Wildlife and Nature:

Yes, you read that right. There will be lots of wildlife and all kinds of flora on the mountain. However, it may not be that easy to spot many animals because they avoid areas where there are people/activity. But If you are lucky enough you may come across a buffalo or eland!

The location:

Mount Kilimanjaro is located in the Kilimanjaro region, next to a small and interesting little town called Moshi. After your descent, you can spend time relaxing in Moshi. Enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant, unwind at the TPC Golf club or even take a day trip to the hot springs! There are plenty of accommodation options if you choose to stay a few days in Moshi town.

You can join a group:

If you want to spend this holiday travelling solo, do not fret! Join a group and climb Kilimanjaro with them. This gives you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

Before you go on your endeavor, it is important that you read on basic essentials before climbing the mountain, and do some research on key subjects like altitude sickness and safety measures.
