Top places to go on your family safari
Planning a family Safari? If there is one country that has so much to offer for a family Safari, that one visit will never be enough, that would have to be Tanzania. Tanzania offers some of the best family vacations. Itineraries are child-friendly and it also gives that fun outdoor experience for the little ones. Where else can you experience mind blowing scenery, good food and great service at pocket-friendly budgets?
There are a range of places you can choose to stay at, from tented camps to luxury lodges. You could also camp with your kids, as long as they are old enough for it. There are some age guidelines that can help you decide where you want to stay.
Tanzania has plenty to see. Mountains, the beach and so many gorgeous landscapes. Anyone in your family will be sure to love it! Even your grandma and grandpa!
A safari is a great way for the kids to appreciate and learn about nature and wildlife. Not often can you get a chance to see wild animals in their natural habitat. We recommend a private safari for families. This way your itinerary is designed according to your preferences, and you can move at your own pace with your private vehicle.
Our team at Viva Africa Tours has first hand experience when it comes to safaris. Here are our favorite Safari destinations:
Tarangire National Park:
Tarangire National Park has been named after the river flowing across the park and is the only source of water for the animals during the dry season. Expect to see large baobab trees and a mixture of vegetation all through your game drive. Tarangire also has a huge variety of bird species. You will see a countless amount of wildlife; including lions, warthogs, impala, cheetah, buffalos and baboons. Elephants are more in number at this park, and you will most likely see quite a few. Your kids are bound to love this park!
Serengeti National Park:
Serengeti is known for having the largest wildlife population in the world, this includes the zebra, gazelle, lions, wildebeest, elephant and giraffe. It’s also a place you can spot the seasonal migration of wildebeest. Serengeti means ‘The land that moves on forever’ – this is no doubt, given all the life that it contains. The park is huge, therefore spend more time here on your family safari.
Ngorongoro Crater:
Of all the parks, Ngorongoro has the most unique geological formation. Because the crater sides are a barrier to many species migrating in or out, the crater has an abundance of wildlife. Your family will love the beautiful scenery, and they may also spot the big 5! You could also encounter vultures, zebra, hippo, wildebeest and hyenas. The possibilities here countless. Your family will most definitely love Ngorongoro!
